With family roots in Ukraine, Paris-based Olena Labunets has mastered her skills as a painter primarily with oils. Originally focusing on figurative art, she made the transition to the world of landscapes. Captured by the imperceptible mystery of foggy weather, Olena invites the audience into the world of the unknown. She likes light and shadow games, fluid shapes and solid color transitions in the dark. Through her misty landscapes, Olena evokes questions through atmospheric forms she creates. The game of light gives a feeling of lightness even in the darkest shape. Olena studies color perception and its manipulation.
